“The voracious ambition of humans is never sated by dreams coming true, because there is always the thought that everything might be done better and again.”—John Green, The Fault in Our Stars (via thanat0psis)
“Given the final futility of our struggle, is the fleeting jolt of meaning that art gives us valuable? Or is the only value in passing the time a comfortably as possible? What should a story seek to emulate? Augustus? A ringing alarm? A call to arms? A morphine drip? Of course, like all interrogation of the universe, this line of inquiry inevitably reduces us to asking what it means to be human and whether— to borrow a phrase from the angst-encumbered sixteen-year-olds you no doubt revile— there is a point to it all.”—Peter Van Houten, via Lidewij Vliegenthart, “The Fault in our Stars” (John Green)
“You clench your teeth. You look up. You tell yourself that if they see you cry, it will hurt them, and you will be nothing but A Sadness in their lives, and you must not become a mere sadness, so you will not cry, and you say all of this to yourself while looking up at the ceiling, and then you swallow even though your throat does not want to close and you look at the person who loves you and smile.”—The Fault in Our Stars John Green (via 27sandcastles)
Still messing around with my (semi) troll Karma mid builds. Obviously requires a specific teamcomp to work… but it’s still hilariously entertaining to try in non competitive circumstances.
Time: 36:00 CS: 208: stopped farming some cause I was always needed to keep people alive. Still not TOO bad. Kept very high CS and enemy Annie only got 96 in round so I definitely refused to let her farm Score: 5/0/17 Ok so obviously not insane kills. Forgot to use my deathfire a bunch of times. That being said zero deaths on a mid AP is always a good sign. The large number of assists definitely shows how useful I was. My ending AP was quite high. Shield was around ~650 health and heal was ~16 percent missing health AOE. Works out very, very nice in skirmishes as well as teamfights. Also build was rather sustainable so YAY!
Been trying a more aggressive Doran’s start and it works nicely assuming I know I can avoid spamming spells too hard. After that I went tear due to not having access to blue buff much of the game (we had a greedy kassadin as second AP). Stacking up tear early really helped with my sustain and mid game ap burst. Then went standard AP items.. only thing I really wish I built and just slipped my mind due to how well the game was going at the time was a Rylas… would have done me a ton of goodjust screwing with enemy movement.
Doran’s Ring CDR boots Deathfire (left as pick for a while for bit more gp/10) Deathcap Archangel’s staff
All in all fun round… just wish karma was a tad more viable for ranked/real play.
Words cannot describe just how much I enjoyed it. So many fantastic sections and quotes that I just stopped and went back and re-read 2-3 times just because they were so intriguing or beautiful to me. Haven’t been a big reader last few years but my god this was quality.
"He died after a lengthy battle with human consciousness, a victim – as you will be – of the universe’s need to make and unmake all that is possible."
“True,” he said. “That’s what we should do, Hazel Grace: We should team up and be this disabled vigilante duo roaring through the world, righting wrongs, defending the weak, protecting the endangered.”
Although it was his dream and not mine, I indulged it. He’d indulged mine, after all. “Our fearlessness shall be our secret weapon,” I said
“The tales of our exploits will survive as long as the human voice itself,” he said.
“And even after that, when the robots recall the human absurdities of sacrifice and compassion, they will remember us.”
“They will robot-laugh at our courageous folly,” he said. “But something in their iron robot hearts will yearn to have lived and died as we did: on the hero’s errand”
Keeping with my love for unconvential characters/counter picks in league...
Karma solo mid vs LeBlanc.
It is SHOCKINGLY effective. Early game her burst cannot get through my shield. I farm better, I push better, I support my jungle ganks approximately as well (depends on jungler really..
I didn’t have ideal runes or masteries but I’m thinking standard masteries but swap out runes so I had a bit better early game CDR (complete non issue late game), some MR and possibly some mana regen (mostly non issue).
Ok so I started by rushing Chalice. The entire idea is to out sustain/outfarm leblanc. It building from a cheap magic resist item is simply a cherry on top. Chalice means you never really need blue buff and can give it to another lane if they need it. Item is KEY to keep you in lane and farming. The idea is that leblanc will have little/no reason to try to harass you because your shield will always be ready to use to defend against her burst and counter burst if she stays in range too long (wtf you doing lb??) It also keeps mana up so you can SPAM your Q for harass/farm if need be.
After that I picked up CDR boots. I happened to have some spare cash so I picked up a blue elixyr. You only should need 1 of these all game. Alternatively get second jungle blue and you’re good. You want the early CDR for mantra to keep yourself stupidly strong.
Now… Core item (imo), deathfire! You need the consistant burst but absolutely everything about dfg rocks for Karma. You need cdr? Check! You need ap? Awesome! Bit more mana regen? spam away sir! and best of all a very strong, reliable nuke that your kit is largely lacking (you save shield for defense unless during jungle ganks when it becomes a strong nuke)
Past that it’s somewhat situational. If Leblanc is still mid then I’d go a negatron cloak (late game BV is always awesome and the magic resist will make poor leblanc cry.) If they swap lanes for someone else then I’d start working on some more AP. I like the idea of a sheen because karma has rather stupidly high base AD but lich is far too expensive and your attack range is rather short… Deathcap will seriously boost your use to your team and so that’s always fun. If for some magical reason you’re getting fed, stacks would also be a good option.
A careful karma that is farming mid safely should NOT be dying. If you can pick up some kills/assists in team fights I definitely see stacks as a viable option. Her kit is so insanely SURVIVABLE (note, not necessarily useful… just really hard to finish her off) that it can really piss people off.
Maybe some day Karma will be a real pick… till then I hope to try this matchup a bit more often simply because LB tends to eat most mid ap chars I play…
